Travel to our Kuladeivam Temple

January 2017

Travel to our Kuladeivam Temple

Starting with my first blog. I decided to update all my travel details in this blog.

This month, as 26th of January 2017,(Our Republic day) fell on Thursday, we decided to take one day off on 27th Jan and planned to visit our Kuladeivam Temple near Thirupampooram as we had prayers to offer.

I, along with my husband , kids, my parents and grandparents all planned to travel. As it was a sudden plan, we were not able to book train tickets. So we decided to book a Tempo Traveller (9 of us + our luggages) for our journey. Simultaneously we decided to complete the other prayers which we had to finish on our way.

Day 1

We started our journey at 6am on 26th Jan. We went to Thirumalai Vaiyavoor. This place is called as Then Tirupathi.

Thirumalai Vaiyaavoor has a beautiful temple for Sri Prasanna Venkatesa Perumaal on a small hill. Goddess here is Sri Alarmel Mangai Thaayaar.

Next we headed to Vedanthangal, according to my daughters wish as the next day, in her school they had planned for a field trip to Vedanthangal. As she had to apply leave, I promised her that I would take her beforehand.

Next , went to Melmaruvathur as my grandmother had promised to offer the lord Shakthi with gold Thirumangalyam. After completing our offerings, started with our journey towards Trichy.

On our way, we saw Veedur Dam near Villupuram. Near the park we had our lunch which we had packed (Puliyodharai, Curd Rice and Chips). Then left for Parikkal Arulmigu Lakshmi Narasimhar Swamy temple.

Finally reached my cousin's house at Srirangam, Trichy by 7:45 pm and took rest.

Day 2

On 27th January, we planned to visit our Lord Ranganathar at Srirangam. It was over crowded on that day as it was Thai Velli and Thai Amavasai. We had to wait in the que for 4 hours and then got to see at the huge marvellous  sayana Ranganathar(Lord Vishnu).

Reached my cousin's home by 11:45am and had our lunch and packed tiffin for my grandparents as they will not eat anything outside as it was Amavasai. I also packed Puliyodharai for my kids as they love them a lot and also it would help when we are unable to find any outlets and kids are hungry.

Started by 1:00pm to Siruvachur Mathura Kalliamman Temple. The presiding deity of the temple is known as Sri Mathura Kaliamman. She is one of the forms of Kali. This temple has existed during “The Chola” period and that too during the 'Karpukarasi Kannaki’ of Silappathigaram fame.  Again, even there, there was a huge crowd as the temple will be opened only on Monday and Friday. Somehow managed to see the lord by around 3:30pm. Came back to Trichy at around 5:00pm. Had coffee and started to climb our Malakottai after seeing our Ganesha downstairs.

All old people stayed back in the van , while my family along with our chitti visited the Uchi
Pillaiyar Kovil. This temple has 417 steps. After nearly climbing half the steps (200 steps), we got to be blessed by Lord Thayumanswamy. My kids really enjoyed climbing the temple and the view from the top of the temple was really awesome.

We  got down from the temple by around 6:30pm and then did few shopping at Trichy Sarathas and Mangal & Mangal. We then started our journey to Thanjavur.

Day 3

On 28th January, after having breakfast at my cousin's house at Thanjavur, along with my cousin, his kids, athai and chithi went to Brahadeeshwara Temple, Tittai (Vasishteswarar Temple -  Swayambootheswarar & Ulaganayaki) and Punnainallur Mariamman Temple.

Came back home by 3 pm and took rest.

As we had to start early the next day to our Kuladeivam Temple, we didn't have much plans for the evening.  By 7 pm we went to Shirdi Sai Baba temple at Thanjavur and reached back home by 8:30pm.

Day 4

Our family with my Chithi, Chittappa , Athai and Athimber, our family elder mama thatha and manni ,my cousin and his kids all went by 3 vehicles (one TT, chitappa's swift and one indica) to our kuladeivam temple.
On our way, had breakfast at Kumbakonam Archana Hotel and went to Soraikavur. (My paternal grandfather's place).

As they were renovating the temple for Kumbabhishekam, we did Archanai to the lord there and started our journey to Pillur where we had originally planned for an Abishekam.

We reached Pillur by 11:30am and waited for sometime for one another family to come who was also performing Abhishekam on that day.

Abhishekam started at 12:00pm and ended at 2:00pm.  Had prasadham (Kesari, Lemon Rice, Curd Rice and Vada) there and started immediately after seeing the Sivan Temple and the house where my grandmother was brought up and where my father was born.

Had to rush to Pondicherry as Annai Ashram will close by 6:00pm.
Our vehicle got punctured near Chidambaram around 4:30pm.
We had to wait there for half an hour to get it ready. While our driver was repairing it, we found time to have coffee/tea.
We finally reached Pondicherry only at 6:30pm.
Luckily we were allowed inside the ashram. Paid our offerings to Annai and we were relaxed. Then went to Manakula Vinayagar Temple. Such a beautiful and clean temple I could say. Had our dinner at A2B and went to Beach. After walking for a while at Beach we started our journey back to Chennai. Reached home by 12:30am on 30/01/2017.

Wow! Such a wonderful trip! All of us enjoyed the trip. My  kids too enjoyed the trip.
You could wonder how could kids enjoy the temple trip. Yes..They didn't enjoy the temples but they enjoyed the travel from Chennai to Thanjavur and back in our TT as our driver Sridhar of Fast Track had many film CD's and played those CD's as per my kids request.
The movies which we saw were Thodari, Eeti, Achaminri, Achamenbathu madamaiyada, Remo. Yes..I too got to watch these movies relaxedly after a long time. Me and my kids usually sleep during our travel. But this time due to these movies, none of us slept, including my mom.
Finally when we had to return from Pondicherry, our driver , kind enough, had got Bairava CD because my kids had requested for it. But since the next day they had to go to school, we didn't let them know about it so that they could sleep.

Memorable one!!!
